CVO to conduct mass vaccination of animals

THE Bacolod City Veterinary Office will conduct a barangay mass vaccination campaign in 12 villages starting July 21.

The activity is part of the efforts to vaccinate 80 percent of the dog and cat population in the city.

The campaign will run until September starting with Barangay Punta Taytay on July 21 and 22. It will be followed by Barangay Cabug on July 23 and 24; Barangay Handumanan, July 28, 30, 31 and August 1; Barangay Felisa, August 4 to 6; Barangay Alijis, August 11 and 15; Barangay Vista Alegre, August 18 to 22); and Barangay Bata, August 26 and 29.

Barangay Mandalagan will hold their campaign on September 1 to 5 followed by Barangay Banago, September 8 to 11; Barangay Montevista, September 12; Barangay Alangilan, September 15 to 19; and Barangay Granada, September 22 to 26.

The CVO advises pet owners to contact their respective barangay officials for further information.

In last month’s regular meeting of the City Peace and Order Council, City Veterinary Officer Maria Agueda Trinidad de la Torre said more than 20,000 dogs and cats were vaccinated from January to May with four tested positive for rabies.

No human rabies case or death was reported.
