Dagaang shines

RONALD Dagaang and Joy Mawalic stamped their class and captured the amateur men's and women's titles of the Tribu Trail Run held in an out-and-back course from Barangay Langub in Maa.

Dagaang clocked a total of 48 minutes and 37:75 seconds in the 11-kilometer race to win the crown. Alex Fulgencio finished in 53:37:54 to place second while Davao City's only Ironman finisher, Dino Paulo Ouano, came in third with his 53:42:75.

In the distaff side, Mawalic registered one hour, 21 minutes and 40 seconds followed, by Jenny Espinosa (01:34:35) and Regina Lorraine Reyes (01:38:13).

All top finishers received cash prizes and medals from organizer River One Adventure and freebies from sponsors Tribu Outdoors, Headware, Globe Telecom, Powerade Sports Drink and Kurv Industries.

The oldest participant, 56-year-old Eugenio Guanzon, youngest, nine-year-old Jude Bagay, and turtle of the race Jay Cabigon also received medals.

The race drew a total of 116 participants and supported by Langub barangay captain Esmeraldo Pamat.
