Davao del Norte power firm's engineer shot dead

AN ENGINEER of the Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Incorporated (Daneco) was shot dead at 12:10 p.m., Thursday, August 24 at Purok 1-C, Barangay San Jose Poblacion, Montevista in Compostela Valley.

Police Senior Inspector Sawiden Nor, chief of Montevista Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Engineer Glen Daclan, 46, married, a resident of Purok 11, Barangay Bliss in Monkayo and an Engineering System Planning chief of Daneco.

"Nagkaon ang biktima sa iyang paniudto didto sa karenderya sa Purok 1-C kalit miabot ang duha ka mamumuno, sakay sa motorsiklo, dayon gipusil ang biktima kinsa dead on the spot (The victim was eating lunch at a carenderia at Purok 1-C when two men onboard a motorcycle shot him and was killed on the spot)," Nor said in a phone interview with SuperBalita Davao.

He added that they already conducted a hot pursuit operation and added checkpoints to apprehend the suspects.

The Montevista Municipal Police Station is conducting a hot pursuit operation and tightening up of security in all its checkpoints.

Three empty shells of .45 caliber were found at the crime scene.

Investigation is still ongoing to determine the motive of the crime and to identify the suspects.

It can be recalled that there were already three Daneco employees who were gunned down by riding-in-tandem killers, and one of them was Engineer Maximo Roxas who was killed last October 2016 in Barangay Poblacion, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

Rogelio Butalid and Gregorio Ibañez were also gunned down several years back.
