THERMA South Inc. (TSI) signed an agreement to adopt two water bodies that traverse through their area for the green development of barangays Binugao and Inawayan.

The Aboitiz-owned 300 megawatts power plant formally inked the memorandum of agreement with host communities Barangay Binugao in Toril, Davao City and Barangay Inawayan in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur last Tuesday.

"We want to be responsible. We want to maintain a potable water system for the following generation," said TSI vice president and Plant Manager Engineer Val Saludes III.

Saludes said they are looking into making a mango park in their compound.

Hardwood species such as Narra and fruit-bearing trees will be planted by the employees by the banks of Inawayan River and Macaring Creek (also known as Binugao River), the adopted bodies of water.

By the end of the year, the river shall be filled with grown Tilapia and Hito, which will benefit the host communities and the Matigsalug Tribe in Toril.
