DCNHS, Ateneo spikers post 2 wins

DAVAO City National High School (DCNHS) and Ateneo de Davao University spikers posted two wins each in boys division at the start of the 80th Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival Inter-Secondary Volleyball Tournament at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

DCNHS survived past Assumption College of Davao (ACD), 25-12, 25-20, 28-26 before beating General Baptist Bible College (GBBC), 25-10, 25-23 in pool B.

Ateneo, for its part, outclassed Precious International School of Davao (PISD), 25-13, 19-25, 25-16 after eking out a 25-5, 23-25, 25-16 victory over Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJKIS) in pool A.

Jose Maria College (JMC) and University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) also entered the winning column of the tournament organized by the Davao Volleyball Association and sponsored by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.

UIC swept GBBC, 25-1, 25-16, in two straight sets while JMC spanked PISD, 25-20, 25-12.

In the distaff side, DCNHS escaped past UIC, 22-25, 25-21, 25-10 while Ateneo subdued PNJKIS, 25-20, 25-13.

ACD and JMC also annexed wins. ACD volleybelles bounced back from a first set loss to edge UIC, 19-25, 25-11, 25-21.

Games will resume on Sunday pitting Ateneo against JMC at 8:45 a.m. and DCNHS against ACD at 9:30 a.m. in girls division, PNJKIS vs JMC at 11 a.m. and ACD vs UIC at 12:30 p.m. in boys category. Five more games will be held until 5 p.m.
