Chief Superintendent Bernardo Diaz Friday assumed as director of Police Regional Office (PRO) Western Visayas, succeeding Chief Superintendent Josephus Angan.

Angan will retire from the police service on June 22, 2015.

Regional police directors attended the turn-over of command on Thursday at the PRO Western Visayas headquarters in Iloilo City.

Bacolod City Police Office officer-in-charge Melchor Coronel said Diaz is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1984 and a classmate of Angan, who will turn 56 soon, the retirement age in the Philippine National Police.

He said Diaz was formerly assigned as officer-in-charge of Police Regional Office-2. His former post was occupied by Chief Superintendent Rainer Idio, a former chief of the Regional Mobile Group-6 based in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

Coronel said that they expect adjustments in the PRO-6 leadership as the new regional director may implement a reshuffling among police units in Western Visayas.(MAP)
