ALABEL, Sarangani -- Thirty-three-year old Gov. Miguel Rene Dominguez of Sarangani province, has formally announced on Monday that he is tying the knot with his girlfriend late this year.

The announcement was made hours after he took his oath of office for his last term as governor of Sarangani.

Before selected visitors and in the presence of his parents, what was supposed to be a reception for his inauguration, turned to be an engagement party as Dominguez confirmed earlier rumors that he is getting married soon to his fiancee Patricia Ang who hails from Davao City.

Ang was with Dominguez during Monday's inauguration and was accompanied by her parents.

"Yes, I'm getting married on December 29," Dominguez said. He became the second youngest governor in the country when he was first elected at the age of 27 in 2004.

Even though a neophyte in the political arena, Dominguez held the highest position in his party when he was appointed president of the Lakas-Kampi Christian Muslim Democrats party last year.

Dominguez said he will remain a Lakas-Kampi CMD member despite the invitation from the Liberal Party to join the political party of President-elect Benigno Aquino III. (Ben O. Tesiorna)
