DPWH allocates P93.1-M for road widening project

THE National Government through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has alloted P93.1 million for road widening project in Zamboanga City.

First district Representative Celso Lobregat, House Committee on Public Works and Highways chairperson, said the Zamboanga City Airport road will be widened.

This will start from the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA) road to the junction of Baliwasan Chico that links to the present main access road in San Jose-Gusu junction.

Lobregat said the San Jose-Gusu junction will be constructed as a channelized intersection where vehicles approaching an intersection are directed to definite paths by islands or markings.

This is to ensure the smooth flow of traffic for motorists plying the city’s west coast, he said.

Lobregat also said the widening of the Zamboanga City Airport road will be implemented this year by the DPWH district engineering office.

He said the project forms part of the Build, Build, Build program of President Rodrigo Duterte. (SunStar Philippines)
