Drug surrenderer in Bacolod City shot dead

John Paul Villanueva

A DRUG surrenderer was shot to death by an unidentified man at Purok Ylac, Barangay 1, Bacolod City on Friday.

The fatality, Jason Sajo, was a drug user subjected to Oplan Tokhang a few months ago. He was a watcher in a construction site near the bridge area in the said barangay.

Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias Jr., head of Police Station 2, said Sajo was walking in a dimly lit area around 10:45 p.m. when the assailant waylaid him, and fired at him.

Sajo sustained a lone gunshot wound in his chest. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Villarias said the killing of Sajo could be related to his involvement in theft incidents at the construction site, but they are also considering the illegal drugs angle.

Investigators now have a lead to the identity of the assailant, he added.

6 nabbed

Six men were arrested for sale and possession of illegal drugs at Purok Sibucao in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City on Friday.

Police identified the target subject as Carlan Siachongco, 36.

Also arrested inside his house were Rex Gain, 36, of Barangay Villamonte, Rewy Demonteverde, 19, Ryan Constantino, 38, Jordan Malandany, 19, John Mark Oveja, 21, all of Barangay Banago.

Siachongco sold a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," to a police agent for P200.

Police recovered three sachets of "shabu," drug paraphernalia, P250 cash, and the P200 marked money.
