DTI observes Consumer Welfare Month

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Central Luzon has observed the Consumer Welfare Month with a two-day event held at the Waltermart Event Center.

With a theme "Consumer Rights in the Digital Age", the event kicked-off with annual poster-making contest and the Dulaan Pangmamimili Contest participated in by various schools all over Central Luzon.

This was followed by awarding of DTI Bagwis Seal of Excellence to customer-friendly and price-conscious business establishments in the region.

Several media organizations, including SunStar Pampanga, also received acknowledgement from the agency for continuously supporting its consumer protection program.

The first Search for Reyna ng Palengke was held to recognize lady business owners who have the beauty, wit and passion in serving Filipino buyers.

The event was highlighted by a seminar about Cyber Crime Prevention Act anchored by National Bureau of Investigation NBI Digital Cyber Crime Forensic Division Chief Victor Lorenze.

DTI-Central Luzon Director Judith Angeles said the Consumer Welfare Month is the agency's way of celebrating a successful year of fulfilling their mandate of protecting the Filipino buyers and sellers.

She said the annual activity aims to further inform every Filipino of their rights as consumers, both in the physical and cyber market.
