John Paul Villanueva

A DRUG suspect was gunned down by an unidentified man at Rufo-Yurac Street, Barangay 2, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Robert Frias, 37. He was identified as the second drug personality under the town’s street local target list.

Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral Jr., chief of E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station, said Frias was standing in front of a sari-sari store when the assailant fired at him at around 4:40 p.m.

Frias sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police recovered from the crime scene two bullets and two slugs of .45 caliber.

Aral said Frias was identified as a drug pusher, based on police validation.

This is the first time that a drug suspect was killed in the town, he added.

Aral said Frias was supposed to be subjected to Oplan Tokhang this week to convince him to surrender.

A hot pursuit is being conducted and an investigation is ongoing.
