Emar wins title

THE Emar Learning Center emerged as champion for the fifth time in the fifth Mayor Rody-Vice Mayor Inday Sara and Holcim Philippines Inter-High School Football Tournament.

Emar Learning Center beat Ateneo de Davao University, 3-0, in the tournament held at the Tionko grounds on Saturday.

Frances Jay Abrasaldo, Bal Angelo and Jomar Acedo scored the goals for Emar.

Multi-titled coach Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon was at the helm of Emar's triumph in the meet presented by Mayor Rodrigo and Vice Mayor Sara Duterte with Holcim Philippines.

Emar also reaped individual awards including the most valuable player (MVP) title given to Jomar Acedo. Imardino Polo was best defender while Dominador Tato IV was best goalkeeper.

Davao City National High School (DCNHS) Columbia's Rocky Custodio was named best striker having made 13 goals in the league.

DCNHS Columbia, coached by Danny Boy Fernandez, went on to win the third place after beating Holy Child, 2-0, with goals from Custodio and Gerard Bicañesa.

The top four teams went home with medals and cash prizes from Holcim Philippines Mining CHR and administration manager Cilor Guevarra during the awarding rites.

He was assisted by Davao Football Association (DFA) president Rafael "Pops" Vilela, general secretary Erwin Protacio and tournament commissioner Keith Shelly Canton. (MLSA)
