Farmer shoots cousin dead over land dispute

LOPE DE VEGA, Northern Samar -- A farmer was shot to death by his cousin over a land dispute in Barangay Roxas, this town, on Tuesday, February 21.

Acting Police Chief Noel Unay identified the victim as Arnold Jarapojop, 38, single, a resident of Barangay Roxas.

The incident was witnessed by the victim's brother-in-law identified as Roel Bantulod, 15, a resident of Calbayog City who likewise told police that the suspect is Jarapojop's cousin.

Bantulod failed to give the name of the victim's cousin.

He told police that Jarapojop was on his way to his farm when shot by his cousin using an improvised shotgun locally known as “Bardog.”

The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds on his right shoulder and neck.

The police are eyeing grudge, which started in a land dispute, as the motive in the crime.
