CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The CineKabalen Kapampangan Film Festival, which is now on its fifth year, bared the eight finalists of its Aring Sinukwan Category.

Finalists for this year include "Letratu" of Albert Anonito from Macabebe town; "Lumput" of Arcel Lacap from Masantol, "Pamagsadia" of Gabrielle Tayag from Angeles City; "Pipoy Malibi" of Brianne Carlo Amparado from Angeles City; "Ratatat ng Dante" of Jasper Tulabot from Paniqui, Tarlac; "Regalu" of Raymond Anunciacion from Bamban, Tarlac; "Siwala" of Josue Gopez from Angeles City and "Trio" of Ian Christopher Cruz from Santa Ignacia, Tarlac.

The CineKabalen Kapampangan Film Festival aims to motivate Kapampangans to explore digital filmmaking.

The event was organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan, Inc., and the Holy Angel University Center for Kapampangan Studies.

The ultimate aims to promote Kapampangan culture and language through cinema. The CineKabalen Film Festival aims to motivate Kapampangans to get into digital filmmaking and to promote Kapampangan culture and language through cinema.

The event is open to filmmakers who identify themselves as Kapampangans or of Kapampangan descent, living in the country or abroad as well as those based in Central Luzon.

The festival is steered by award-winning director Jason Laxamana.

Laxamana is the director behind succesful Kapampangan films like "Babagwa" (The Spider's Lair) which competed in the New Breed category of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and "Magkakabaung" which bagged awards for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Film, among others.
