ABOUT P500,000 worth of firearms bound for Bacolod City were seized while three suspects were arrested at the port of Tabuelan town, Cebu early Tuesday.

Police identified the suspects as Mario Lamoste, Noel Abarquez, and truck driver Pablo Biabado Jr.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 intercepted the suspects on board a truck at a checkpoint, reports said.

Authorities found four boxes of boots and two boxes of rain coats containing 31 .38 caliber revolvers, 14 9mm pistols, three shotguns, ammunition, and 17 handcuffs.

The suspects, who claimed to be working for GDS Security Agency, failed to show necessary documents for the said firearms.

The illegal shipment was set to be transported to Escalante City in Negros Occidental from Tabuelan then to Bacolod City.

Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office, said they haven’t monitored the entry of firearms in the city.

He said they will coordinate with Police Regional Office-7 through PRO-Negros Island Region regarding the case.

Dongbo added that they will also check if there’s a branch of the said security agency in Bacolod. (MPE)
