THE foreign protagonists for this Saturday’s “Philippines vs. The World” will arrive today.

Mexicans Alejandro Barrera, Pipino Cuevas Jr. and Korean Jin Man Jeon are set to land at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

Both Mexicans are set to arrive at 6:30 p.m., while Jeon will arrive at dawn.

Barrera will be in the main event against former world title challenger Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista, while Cuevas takes on fellow hard-hitter Jimrex Jaca at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.

Both Barrera and Cuevas are related to Mexican boxing legends. Barrera is the cousin of Marco Antonio Barrera, while Cuevas is the son of the former World Boxing Association welterweight champion of the 70’s with the same name.

Jeon, on the other hand, will face unbeaten Milan Melindo, who is rated in all the major boxing sanctioning bodies.

Also set to arrive today is ex-International Boxing Federation mini-flyweight champion Florante Condes, who is looking to revive his career against Indonesian prospect Sofyan Effendi.

In the undercard, Marlon Alta faces Japanese Naozumi Tsuchiyama, who fights with a prosthetic leg, while fan favorite Jun Intor slugs it out with Jaime Alin Jr. in a special attraction match.

This is the biggest boxing event of ALA Promotions in Cebu City since the world title fight between Z Gorres and Fernando Montiel in 2007 at the Cebu City Sports Complex.
