WINNING a second gold medal and smashing another Games record

marked Dabawenyo veteran para-athlete's Ernie Agat Gawilan's stint in the 8th Asean Para Games swimming competition at the OCBC Aquatic Center in Singapore Tuesday evening.

Gawilan, who clinched the men's 400-meter freestyle SM8 gold last weekend, broke the Games record and booked a spot in the 2016 Rio Paralympics, added another feather on his cap by capturing the gold in the men's 200 individual medley (IM) event.

The 24-year-old ace timed a total of two minutes and 47.64 seconds to beat Toh Wei Soong of Singapore (3:05.55) and Dang Van Cong of Vietnam (3:16.39) to cop the silver and bronze, respectively.

Gawilan also hit his own target time which is 2:47 as he bared it via Facebook chat Tuesday.

He earlier got a silver in men's 100m freestyle.

The Davao City pride was a triple bronze medalist in the Asian Para Games. (MLSA)
