General merchandise employees robbed of P700,000

MOTORCYCLE-riding gunmen robbed three general merchandise personnel of P700,000 in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Tuesday.

The Zamboanga del Sur police said the incident took place around 8 a.m. Monday at the junction of Toribio and Rizal Streets, in the village of Poblacion, Margosatubig town.

The victims were identified as Roxanne Sevilla, 27, the caretaker of Azucena General Merchandise, Guadalizel Salabe, a saleslady and Rey Sinday, 40, a driver, the police said.

Investigation showed the victims were aboard a truck on the way to deposit money at the bank when the suspects, armed with handguns, waylaid them.

The suspects fled aboard on a motorcycle towards the direction of Lumbog village.

Investigation continues in a bid to identify and arrest the suspects, the police said. (Bong Garcia)
