Group proposes rehab centers in barangays

THE Office of Persons with Disability Affairs (OPDA) proposed for the establishment of Community-based Rehabilitation program in selected barangays in Iloilo City.

OPDA head Dolores Laudenorio, who submitted the proposal, said a City Council resolution recognizing the CBR program is needed so that OPDA can proceed with rehabilitation programs in the barangays in cooperation with the city social welfare office.

The CBR program being proposed to the barangays will be funded by different civic and socio economic organizations including funding from international nongovernment organizations.

OPDA is the mother organizations of some 15 nongovernment organizations based in this city that held served the needs of some 5,000 registered persons with disability (PWDs).

OPDA's proposal was submitted to the City Council committee on barangay affairs for study and recommendation.
