Gun ban raps filed vs military official

THE army corporal who tucked his firearm openly at his wife’s hearing inside a village courtroom in Cagayan de Oro has been charged Wednesday.

Charged for violating the election gun ban was Corporal Abrasa Bairulla, 39, a resident of Lapaz I, Barangay Lapasan. He is a member of the 30th Infantry Brigade of the Army’s Fourth Infantry Division.

Police Offcier 1 Analiza Pading of Agora Police Station said the soldier was arrested inside the courtroom of the Lupong Tagapamayapa in Barangay Lapasan with his firearm —a caliber .45 pistol—tucked on his waist.

“His wife had a hearing that day on a minor case involving another woman in their neighborhood, and maybe he was there to offer some moral support,” Police 0fficer 1 Pading told Sun.Star.

“But the bad thing was he had a gun, and he was not in military uniform.” Added Pading.

Bairulla did not resist arrest and peacefully surrendered his firearms. The soldier is currently detained at the Maharlika Detention Cell.

Authorities yesterday pressed charges against him before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
