WORKERS at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol have bid former Governor Niel Tupas a final goodbye before his family brings him to the family residence at M. V. Hechanova, Jaro District.

Tupas was the Iloilo governor for three terms until 2010. He had served as undefeated municipal mayor of Barotac Viejo, assemblyman during the Macos era and congressman of the fifth district of Iloilo. After his governorship, he served as the director of the Philippine National Oil Company until 2013.

Tupas' youngest son, Iloilo City Councilor Nielex Tupas said the body of his father was brought home from Manila on Friday, November 27, and was directed to the capitol for viewing and a necrological mass at 2 p.m.

The body was brought to his house in Jaro at 6 p.m. and will stay for four days.

On December 1, Tupas' body will be brought home to his hometown, Barotac Viejo in northern Iloilo.

His burial date will be announced later. (LCP/Sunnex)
