Independence Day Uni-games at Almendras Gym today

THE City Government of Davao, through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO), holds an Independence Day Uni-Games at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center today.

SDD-CMO spokesperson Charles Raymond Maxey said that the event is initiated by SDD-CMO officer-in-charge William "Butch”"Ramirez and Davao City administrator lawyer Melchor Quitain.

"This event aims to foster friendship and camaraderie among Dabawenyos," Maxey said.

He said, "We want our athletes to display their skills in this independence celebration. Pahalipay ni nato sa mga Dabawenyo through sports (This is an initiative to provide fun to the city)."

He said that basketball boys secondary and collegiate volleyball competitions for men and women are slated today.

The Holy Child School of Davao (HCSD) plays Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) at 9 a.m. in basketball while Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) collides with the University of Mindanao (UM) in men's volleyball at 1:30 p.m.

The women's volleyball match is set at 2:30 p.m.

He added students of participating schools are expected to cheer for their respective teams. (MDC)
