'Install traffic lights at major intersections'

Sunnexdesk

THE City Council of Bacolod has passed a resolution reiterating its previous requests from Mayor Monico Puentevella to prioritize the installation of traffic lights at intersections of major streets/highways in order to ease traffic.

Authored by Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, the resolution said the ever-increasing commercial and technological developments in Bacolod City brought tremendous increase in its day population which has greatly affected the traffic situation in the city.

The lack of the much-needed traffic lights, not to mention the already installed but defective ones, have caused a lot of traffic delays and inconvenience to commuters especially during peak hours everyday as well as traffic accidents.

The city government of Bacolod will be preparing its 2016 General Fund budget and under the prevailing traffic situation in the City, it is imperative for the city administration to give priority in putting up a fund in the said budget for installation of traffic lights in major streets / highways in Bacolod City./CNC
