‘Jolina’ to make landfall over Northern Luzon

TROPICAL depression Jolina is expected to slightly intensify before making a landfall over Northern Luzon between Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said, in its 11 p.m. weather update, that Ilocos provinces, La Union, Abra and Benguet may be raised to Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 on Friday morning.

Pagasa also said that moderate to occasionally heavy rains is expected in Bicol provinces and other parts of Luzon by Friday.

Areas under TCWS 1 are Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Northern Aurora.


Jolina has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 17 kph.
