Julie’s Bakeshop, the Philippines’ largest neighborhood bakeshop chain, brings you the Julie’s Chief Baker Student Edition—a reality TV show featuring student bakers from various culinary schools in Cebu.

Thirteen full episodes for the premiere season has started airing this February in Cebu, Davao and General Santos on Sky Cable. The program aims to highlight the skills, creativity and ingenuity of the student bakers in coming up with new recipes; and their ability to adapt to the challenges and twists in the competition.

The 13 competing schools fighting to be recognized as the first Julie’s Chief Baker champions are: ACT, BC, CTU-Danao, CTU-Camotes, CEC, CIT-U, CMIC, ISHRM, MCC, SCC, UCLM, UC METC SEACAST, and USPF.

Week 5 of the Julie’s Chief Baker Student Edition, found the teams locked in battle not only against each other but also on unfamiliar grounds. They minced, diced, used blenders, made fillings, and did everything imaginable to the fruits and vegetables to create the ultimate healthy bread.

When the smoke cleared, the team from CTU San Francisco, Camotes and their Verdura (spanish term for vegetable) Bread was the judges’ top pick of the week. Cebu Institute of Technology University’s Vita Bread and Mandaue City College’s Mega Organic Bread complete the top 3 teams for the Healthy Bread challenge. However, it was a bright red stop light for the bakers from Asian College of Technology and their green-colored Blossom Spinach Bread.

Week 6 will definitely be challenging for the student bakers as they will have to come up with something creative other than a

Filipino favorite, siopao or the steamed bread.

Find out what steamed goodies the teams will have to prepare in the next challenge. You can watch the Julie’s Chief Baker show over Sky Cable’s Channel 35 and Cebu Living Channel 61 or view the Julie’s Chief Baker episodes on www.youtube.com/iwantjulies.

Julie’s Chief Baker is co-presented by Selecta and Coca Cola. It is also brought to you by General Milling Corporation, Globe First Class Flour by Universal Robina Corporation, Gas Petronas, Zest-O Corporation, Magnolia, Inc., Vesmach, Sun.Star, The Freeman and Nature’s Spring.
