Local police post 21 gun ban arrests

THE Davao City Police Office posted the most number of arrests made against gun ban violators in the Davao region.

Data from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 showed a total of 61 arrests in the region from January 10 to February 28 this year.

Of the 61 violators, 21 were arrested in Davao City.

Davao City is followed by Davao del Norte with 17 persons arrested, Compostella Valley with 13, Davao del Sur with 8, and Davao Oriental with 2.

Of the 61, 55 were civilians, 4 were members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines while 2 are Philippine National Police personnel. There is no record of gun ban violations among officials.

The 61 arrested people are either facing corresponding charges, turned over to the Social Welfare and Development offices for being minors , or were released after they presented documents pertaining to their right to carry guns.

The number of firearms confiscated totaled to 51 including a grenade, one air soft gun or replica, and 7,817 ammunition.
