Lopez claims victory over Diaz’s resignation

BACOLOD City Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez has claimed victory over the resignation of City Legal Officer Rayfrando Diaz II effective end of August.

Lopez said Diaz’s resignation is an answered prayer and a confirmation that his efforts and struggles have borne fruit.

"The various cases I filed against Diaz and the mayor (Monico Puentevella), plus the notice of disallowance with the National Electrification Administration and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) investigation have definitely contributed to his resignation," Lopez said.

He added that case for damages Diaz filed against the Ombudsman and him will surely be dismissed as well as the perjury case against him and his counsel Belinda Villa.

"His alleged statement of haunting me to death is mere rhetoric especially since it was coming from a person whose credibility is questionable and highly stressed,” Lopez said.

Diaz resigned to serve as full-time counsel for Puentevella. He submitted his resignation letter to the mayor last August 12.

He said he is stepping down as CLO, believing that the office is already in good shape and all the staff are working well, efficient, and productive. (CNC)
