THE management of Lopue’s Mandalagan Corp. clarified on Monday that they did not ask the Police Station 3 in Bacolod City to vacate their current location at its annex building on Lacson Street, Barangay Mandalagan.

Instead, they asked the police to pay a rental fee, they said.

In a letter dated Dec. 31, 2016 to Senior Inspector Larry Teovisio, chief of Police Station 3, the management said the police station has been occupying a space in their building for more than 30 years for free, including water and electricity.

However, due to the increase in land and building taxes, the management decided to give up providing them benefits until June 30.

The management told SunStar Bacolod that their decision does not necessarily mean an ouster of the police station.

They said that they are waiting for a feedback from the police station as they were given five months to decide.

They are open to any negotiation, if needed, the building management added.

Teovisio said he has yet talk to Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office, regarding the matter.

He added that the police station will temporarily occupy the old Mandalagan barangay hall at Purok Santol in case there will be no negotiation while they are looking for a permanent site.
