Magnitude 4.9 earthquake hits Laoag City

MANILA (UPDATED) - A Magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, around 5:20 p.m. Monday, January 9.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the epicenter of the earthquake at 38 kilometers northwest of the city with a depth of 27 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt at Intensity III in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, while instrumental Intensity III was reported in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.
