A TOTAL of 123 couples will be married in civil rites on Sunday at the Calle Real heritage site in Iloilo City’s central business district.

City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog will officiate the wedding rite that will start at 5 p.m. It is also facilitated by the Red Ladies of Iloilo City.

A tax ordinance was enacted last Tuesday, June 10, by the City Council to exempt the couples from the payment of marriage registration fees in connection with the mass wedding.

More than 1,000 couples were already facilitated by the Red Ladies of Iloilo City to be married in civil rites here. The sites include at the Jaro covered gymnasium, La Paz gym, Grand Hotel, Robinsons Place, Esplanade I and now at the Calle Real.

The mass wedding with free marriage registration at the city civil registrar office is one of the social programs of the City Government for several years now.
