Mayor denies relief of BCPO chief

John Paul V. Pepito

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia denied the report that he wants to replace Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

Leonardia issued the statement during the press conference at the Bacolod

Government Center Saturday.

Last week, a text message circulating in Bacolod stated that Wanky will be relieved from his post after the series robbery hold-up incidents in the city.

“I have not received any information that he will be relieved," Leonardia said.

He said that in matters like this, he will always consult the higher office.

“So far it has not gone to that point yet. It is always a continuing review of any police chief,” Leonardia added.

For his part, Wanky said he is doing his job and it's a challenge to solve the crime incidents.

“If they are not satisfied with what we are doing, there is no problem with me. I will accept their decision," he said.

Wanky said he did not receive the text message about his relief.
