Mayor gives back office to artists

BACOLOD City Mayor Monico Puentevella announced that he is returning the original office of the Art Association of Bacolod (AAB) formerly known as the AAB Gallery located in front of the Bays Center to the local artists.

Artist Nunelucio Alvarado said he hopes this development will give more inspiration to the local artists, and that they will try to the best of their ability to contribute to the progress of the city and the province of Negros Occidental.

“We assure that they will manage the gallery well and make you proud of the artists of Bacolod City and Negros,” he said.

The move is also timely as the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros will be join the Viva ExCon 13 by staging series of art exhibitions in Bacolod titled “Ugyon sa Viva” from November 10 to 16.

Viva ExCon, an artist-run and organized biennial event founded by the Black Artists of Asia, will open in Bacolod City on November 13. The Orange Gallery is the organizing committee.

Alvarado is one of members of the Black Artists of Asia, which include, among others, Charlie Co and Dennis Ascalon, who handled Viva 26 years ago. (CNC)
