ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog will personally lead in the demolition of illegal structures in the city should Task Force Asis failed to do so.

The task force is in-charged of implementing the demolition after due notices to the owners, but illegal structures continue to rise along the city roads, thereby exacerbating traffic congestion and danger to pedestrians.

Mabilog said he had already instructed the task force headed by Engr. Bobby Dumanil to start taking away illegal structures along major streets, such as the proliferation of shanties and dilapidated structures and sidewalk vendors along the diversion road, downtown city streets, Ledesma and Delgado streets and Rizal, La Paz.

Mabilog also mobilized 10 traffic auxiliaries to help in the demolition and planned to regulate the number of sidewalk vendors along major streets.

He said he is looking for a place where the sidewalk vendors can sell their products, thus eliminating illegal structures and traffic congestion.
