Militants seek justice for Baldomero's slay

Sunnexdesk

MILITANTS on Thursday condemned Monday's killing of one of its leaders in Aklan.

In a rally staged along San Pedro Street, supporters of militant Bagong Alyansang Makabayan-Southern Mindanao Region (Bayan-SMR) demanded justice for the July 5 murder of Fernando Baldomero, 61, provincial coordinator of Bayan Muna in Kalibo, Aklan.

John Birondo, Bayan-SMR spokesperson, said Baldomero is the first casualty of political killing under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III.

To date, Birondo said, there are 1,190 killings noted nationwide.

He said Aquino has, so far, no concrete reaction to the rampant incidents of human rights violations.

"Hindi 'wangwang' ang problema kundi ang human rights (human rights is the problem not the sirens) because until now there had been no justice. Even the Ampatuan massacre, up to now no justice has been served," he added.

He added that they will continue demand justice from the current administration, especially in the case of Baldomero. (RBB)
