SOME 44 representatives from 17 chambers of commerce and industry in Mindanao recently underwent a seminar on events organizing and management in Cagayan de Oro City.

The said event aimed at honing "their capability to conduct activities that will encourage economic growth in their respective regions."

The Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) spearheaded and provided the said seminar to the chambers' officials and staff members last week.

In a press statement, GEM said that the seminar was particularly "designed to hone the chambers' capability to hold conferences, trade shows and other events that encourage business activity and draw investment into their areas."

Aside from the "training in event preparation and secretariat operations, the participants were given tips on protocol and hosting business banquets," GEM said.

It said that "in partnership with the GEM Program, the well-established business support organizations in Mindanao help mentor newer chambers of commerce in their efforts to provide services to members and strengthen their local business communities."
