Molave town village chief shot dead

MOTORCYCLE-riding gunmen have shot and killed a village official in Molave town in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported on Tuesday.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula, said the shooting around 2:15 p.m. Monday at Purok Ferry in the village of Miligan in Molave town.

Galvez identified the victim as Jerry Mendoza Geromo, 40, the village chief of Barangay Miligan.

Police investigation showed that Geromo was overseeing the loading of sand into a dump truck when three men riding on two motorcycles arrived. One of the men pulled a gun and repeatedly shot Geromo.

Galvez said Geromo, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, didn't make to the hospital alive.

Investigation continues to identify the perpetrators.
