Monico Cup knockout weekend for 12 teams

Von Maungca

SURVIVAL is last year’s runner-up Barangay 19's aim today when it faces Villamonte at 1:30 p.m. as the 8th Monico Cup knockout games unfold at the Bays Center in Bacolod City.

Powerhouse Banago and Barangay 10 take the cemented court at 3 p.m. each hoping to make the quarterfinal knockout phase among the Top 6 while Tangub and Barangay 35 highlight the tripleheader at 6:30 p.m.

Tomorrow's match up pit Singcang and Barangay 22 in the first game at 1:30 p.m. while Barangay 24 and Handumanan try to stay alive in the second game. Barangay 18 and Barangay 16 will try everything in their arsenal to advance to the QF round.

All the winning teams are advised by tournament manager Jack Marañon to attend the July 9 meeting at 9 a.m. at the Office of Youth and Sports Development.

The winners will undergo another knockout round and those who survive will automatically move to the semifinal phase. The three losers will then play a single round series and the team with the most number of wins or highest quotient, in case of triple tie, will become the fourth team for the SF.

After the crossover semis, the finalists dispute the title.
