More Poso guards requested to secure BGC parking area

John Paul V. Pepito

BACOLOD City Executive Assistant Celestino Guara said yesterday that he will request for additional 10 personnel to be deployed to the parking area of Bacolod Government Center (BGC).

This came after a vehicle parked at the BGC grounds was hit by another car last week and there were no security guards assigned in the area.

Guara, cluster head on peace and order, said the Public Order and Safety Office (Poso) lacks personnel and most of them are deployed inside the BGC building.

“There should be Poso guards outside the BGC, but we don’t have enough personnel,” he said.

Poso has a total of 147 personnel, including 33 deployed inside the BGC building. Others were assigned in various public schools and public markets.

In previous years, a vehicle owner was also victimized by an unidentified theft at the BGC parking area.

Guara said they want to ensure the safety of vehicles and motorcycles parked at BGC grounds.

He added that there should roving guards to respond to crime incidents within the BGC.

Guara reminded car owners not to leave valuables inside their vehicles and park in secured areas especially during night time.
