Motor tanker carrying oil ran aground in Rizal (1:48 p.m.)

A MOTOR tanker loaded with 644,000 liters of bunker oil, ran aground Tuesday morning near Napindan Channel in Taytay, Rizal, the coast guard reported.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on its website that the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The website said coast guard “marine environmental protection personnel were immediately sent to the scene of the incident for possible oil spill and to closely monitor the vessel.”

Coast guard personnel in the area reported the absence of any oil spill, it said

It said the owner of MT Patriot III is sending one of its ships in the area to transfer the bunker fuel.

The tanker came from Subic, Zambales bound for Pililia, Rizal. (Sunnex)
