NCAA: JRU eyes fourth win (2:05 p.m.)

MANILA -- Jose Rizal University (JRU) wants to keep its winning streak alive as it takes on a well-rested College of St. Benilde in the 86th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

Coach Vergel Meneses will rely anew on the services of Alex Almario and Cameroonian recruit Nchoto Njei who unleashed an all-around performance against Perpetual last week.

Njei paced the Bombers with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 blocks on the game that saw JRU recovering from a sloppy first half.

JRU only lost to perennial contender San Beda College in season opener, 68-52, last month.

Benilde, for its part, is still unscathed at 1-0 after nipping pesky Arellano, 70-64 last July 5. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
