New rehab program launched

THE Archdiocese of Cebu has launched a program that will guide the barangays and police in rehabilitating drug dependents.

The Cebu Archdiocesan Program for Drug Dependents or CAPDD seeks to develop community-based drug rehabilitation programs.

The CAPDD also seeks to disseminate the two other comunity-based drug aftercare programs of the Archdiocese.

These are the Surrender to God Center-Based Rehabilitation Program in Liloan and the Lahat Bangon Community-Based Rehabilitation Program in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

CAPDD head Bishop Dennis Villarojo said the program does not seek to control the barangays and the local government units.

He said the Church only aims to link with the villages to come up with a common platform in addressing the country’s drug problem.

Through the program, Archbishop Jose Palma said they want to show the drug dependents that they are not alone.

“The main reason (for this program) is because we care. We want to make the drug surrenderers feel that they are not left behind and unattended,” he added.
