THE Office of the Ombudsman-Mindanao maintains speed of handling cases in the region.

The office had disposed 639 cases out of 1,482 cases as of June 30.

Out of the total number, Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao lawyer Rodolfo Elman told reporters recently that they have disposed 41 percent of criminal cases or 322 out of the 779 cases, while 45 percent for administrative cases or 317 out of 703 cases.

It was previously reported that Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales lauded the Office of the Ombudsman-Mindanao for its performance in 2014, citing the office has been diligent in resolving cases involving public officials.

With a caseload of about 2,100 in 2014, Elman previously said that they have trimmed down the caseload to more than half last year.

"As of April 30 of this year, our case load is way below 1,000, about almost 900. It only shows that determination and dedication of our lawyers," Elman said.

He also said that he has made it a policy to hire young lawyers that are competent and are persons of integrity. (With reports from RSA)
