Oro power firm warns public vs fake bill collectors

THE Cagayan Electric Power and Light Company, Inc. (Cepalco) warns the public against impostors who allegedly identify themselves as inspectors and collectors.

In an advisory posted in social media, Cepalco said they have received reports that there are groups of men saying they are inspectors and collectors from Cepalco.

According to Cepalco, these impostors are visiting houses, inspect wirings, and then collect payment of the electricity bills.

These men, the Cepalco says, have also their own identification cards to prove to the people they were not fake.

The Cepalco, however, clarified that its office has no field collectors, pointing out that all payments and transactions should only be made at the Cepalco office and other accredited collecting banks and centers.

While the Cepalco has its inspectors, it pointed out that these inspectors do not inspect beyond the electric meter, and do not enter the houses of the clients.

The light company is urging the public to report suspicious persons by dialing 162 (Misortel or Philcom), and through its mobile numbers: 0917-319-4278, 0998-965-7885, or report to any police precincts, or even their designated barangay chairman.
