OWWA scholarship programs open

AN OFFICIAL of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) announced that they are now accepting applications for Owwa’s scholarship programs for school year 2015-2016.

This was announced by Owwa Regional Labor Communications Officer Fung Kay Choi who said the scholarship programs include the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and the Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP).

Choi said the scholarship programs are open to graduating senior high school students who are dependents of an Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Choi said prospective applicants have until July 31, 2014 to submit the documentary requirements to the Owwa regional office located in Canelar, this city.

The documentary requirements include picture, birth certificate, and proof that they are OFW dependents.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will administer the qualifying examination on September 21 this year, according to Choi.

He said those who will qualify will be entitled to receive P30,000 financial assistance per semester until they will finish college studies and can enroll in any courses he or she desires to take in the school of his or her choice.
