PIA chief to public: Help end crisis

Winona Sadia, Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism

“EVERY Filipino has a role to play in addressing the crisis in Marawi City.”

This was the message of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director General Harold Clavite that was read by Staff Director Betina Capul during the “Ugnayan: Dialogue for Progress” at the Central Comand (Centcom).

Clavite asked the public to be cautious in sharing information.

“With everything being so accessible these days, we urge everyone, especially our friends from the media, to ensure that all information we share are true and accurate,” he said.

Clavite, who is from Lanao del Norte, is helping run the crisis command center in Iligan City.

“Rest assured that your government is working hard. All agencies are working together. All hands on deck...to instill peace and order in the region and the whole country,” he said.

“The administration of President Rodrigo Duterte believes that peace and security are necessary for development,” he added.
