Police: Manhunt operations vs communist leaders ongoing

COMMUNIST leaders and members who have warrants of arrest are part of the manhunt operations by the Police Regional Office(PRO)-Central Visayas.

PRO-Central Visayas Director Jose Mario Espino said the police have the arresting power, while the military have none.

Espino said they still have pending warrants of arrest to be implemented against Communist Party of the Philippiens-New People's Army, but he did not disclose the number.

He urged the public to inform them if they noticed communist insurgents hiding in their area.

Last month, alleged high-ranking NPA leader Rustico "Paking" Tan was caught by the police in Santander.

Tan was served with 14 warrants of arrest for multiple murder, three for frustrated murder and attempted murder. These arrest warrants were issued by Bohol Regional Trial Court Branch 47 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
