PO2 Brian Lou Guillen was still unconscious after he collapsed when he was about to reach the finish line during the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Triathlon last Sunday.

Guillen, who is also an athlete, is a police officer assigned in the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO)-Police Community Relations Office.

He is a member of Tribu Lapu-Lapu, which is supported by the Lapu-Lapu City Government, for the male relay category of the triathlon. He did the 21-km. run.

Supt. Rey Tiempo, deputy city director for administration of LCPO, said Guillen was still in the intensive care unit of a private hospital based on the latest information that they got.

“According to the wife, Guillen suffered from heat stroke. That was what the doctor told the wife. Until now, he is still unconscious,” said Tiempo.

SunStar Cebu interviewed Tiempo at 3 p.m. when he said Guillen was still unconscious.

Tiempo gathered some of his personnel in a meeting yesterday afternoon so they could give financial help to their colleague.

“He is active in his sport. He is motivated. What happened during the Ironman was really unexpected,” said Tiempo.

The Lapu-Lapu City Government also extended assistance to Guillen’s wife.

City Mayor Paz Radaza has instructed Lapu-Lapu City Health Officer Adolfo Berame to monitor Guillen’s condition. (FMG)
