SENIOR Superintendent Amador Corpus, director of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), said he has not yet received report about policemen firing their guns during the New Year's revelry.
Corpus statement came as police chiefs in Zamboanga City inspected Monday the policemen's firearms to check whether they have complied with the prohibition of firing their guns during the New Year's revelry.
The prohibition had been enforced for several years now to eradicate, if not minimize, the number of stray bullet victims.
The barrel of the policemen's firearms had been sealed before the New Year Eve to ensure they would not use it during the revelry.
Corpus said he has yet to receive the official reports of other police chiefs, especially those stationed in the far-flung areas.
Corpus' command covers 11 police stations, to include one in the island of Sacol, 54 kilometers east off the mainland Zamboanga City.
Senior Inspector Felixberto Martinez, Police Station 7 chief, reported that no one among his personnel has fired his or her guns.
One of the five reported stray bullet victims is from the village of San Roque, which falls within the Police Station 7's area of jurisdiction.
Martinez said the victim was hit by a bullet fired from a caliber .45 pistol.
