Pregnant woman found dead inside house in Lapu

FOUR months pregnant, a 42-year-old woman was found dead inside her house in Barangay Canjulao, Lapu- Lapu City last Sunday afternoon.

The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-Homicide Section believed Jessirie Edan died last Friday.

PO3 Lydo Pinos, investigator of the case, said the victim had been suffering from hypertension, which led to her miscarriage and death.

Authorities found Jessirie inside her room in Sitio Capayas around 5:15 p.m.

Before her death, Jessirie met her ex-husband Reynaldo Edan Jr., 37,a PUJ driver, last Friday to ask for money. 

Nagbuwag mi tungod sa iyang bisyo. Pero magsige pa mi og kita kay mangayo siyag kwarta nako (We separated because of her vice. But, we still saw each other because she’d ask for money),” Reynaldo said.

He said Jessirie had been using illegal drugs.

Last Sunday, Carpio Bentulan, 78, the victim’s neighbor, said there was a foul smell from the victim’s house, so he told Reynaldo about it.

Reynaldo rushed to the victim’s house and found her lying on the floor lifeless. 

Reynaldo and Jessirie have two children, a girl, 17, and a boy, 12.

Pinos said some drug paraphernalia were found inside Jessirie’s room.

In Sitio Bonbonan, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, a police team led by SPO1 Romel Oporto was on its way to arrest a crime suspect when a man who thought the team was after him threw a sling bag he was carrying and ran.

The bag P5,000 cash and two plastic packs containing suspected shabu.
