Prize freeze still in effect

John Dave N. Casas

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has reminded the public, particularly business establishments, that prize freeze remains in effect in Zamboanga City.

Consumer Protection Division Chief Jamir Omar Abubakar of the DTI-Provincial Office said the price freeze took effect October 20, pursuant to City Council Resolution No. 1335, declaring Zamboanga City under the state of calamity due to destructions caused by the inclement weather.

“Under the law, the price freeze takes effect in 60 days, thus it remains in effect until December 20,” Abubakar said.

He said they are continuously conducting price freeze monitoring to ensure compliance.

He said they are also closely monitoring the prices of basic and prime commodities, including the Noche Buena products as well as the Christmas lights and decors.
